Research Projects/Interests
My research interests revolve primarily around commercial fruit production and serving the educational needs of the commercial fruit growers of Connecticut. My research combines traditional production, integrated pest management, and precision agricultural technology. Ongoing pest monitoring efforts provide up-to-date metrics used to inform stakeholder decisions, reduce environmental impacts of farming, and ensure food security. An applied Extension-based research program has been underway since 2019, aimed at developing a drone-imagery-driven predictive model toolset to detect nutritional deficiencies on a whole-farm scale in hopes of impacting the current year’s fruit crop. Models are now being validated and tested for efficacy in improving production. I am interested in the integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts into applied research.
