How to Apply

Acceptance into the Program of Landscape Architecture:

Accreditation and space restrictions limit the number of students in landscape architecture. All students choosing the landscape architecture major will be evaluated during the introductory landscape architecture courses LAND 2110 and/or 2210. Preferred minimum requirements for continuance in the Program of Landscape Architecture are a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better and a grade of 3.0 (B) or better in both introductory courses. Faculty will evaluate:

1. A portfolio of work produced in introductory courses (or during other relevant experiences), for graphic competency, consistency, and academic growth.
2. A short 300-word student essay detailing the student’s understanding of and commitment to the discipline of landscape architecture.
3. Past academic performance (GPA) to determine final acceptance into the Program.

After this evaluation takes place, students are notified of their acceptance into the program and given permission to enroll in the subsequent landscape architecture courses. Here is a sample letter of intent: UConn LA Letter of Intent
